I am definitely from J Town, I love to use all the inappropriate words in my language without knowing exactly what does it mean, o well I just fully adopt it from my lame-ass husband (I’m kidding sweetheart), so excuse my language people. What I meant about kick some lame-ass is that some type of sport to relieve all the tensions you got from your work or bosses or from 3 hours long traffic jam in this lovely J town or simply some type of stress you’ve got from your demanding to much make up wife or from financially controlling husband. Of course another great idea is by having a great time in one of ‘you think’ the hippest bar or lounge or club in Jakarta Kemang area, Sudirman-Thamrin area, Setiabudi area or for those who like it Kota or Blok M area ( the Kota or Blok M area Bars are referred by some magazine though I have not experienced it myself. Sorry people!!), but if you do the later I suggest, you probably will end up either having a very bad hangover the next day that you need to take 4 aspirins plus 1 jug of orange juice or you will get so f******* broke because you didn’t realize that last night you basically spent every rupiah in your wallet plus your 3 creditcards to get some credits from your friends or sometimes from some lame-ass people you didn’t even know. So, to avoid those things there is another alternative so called ‘SPORTS’, what kind of sport am I talking right now? Actually I am talking about kickboxing type of sport name Muay Thai a form of hard martial art practiced in large parts of the world, including Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries [retrieved from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muay_Thai]. Ok,ok enough with the history you can just read from the link above right?. What I want to talk about here is my experience doing this art of eight limbs (got it from the link above too), it starts when my crazy about all type of sports husband well except chess (is it a sport?) and billiard (again is it even a sport?) took me to one Muay Thai centre in kemang area, I remember that time I was still in my postnatal period anyway I liked it very much and I did it about 2 months every saturday once a week and somehow I stopped it because it was Ramadhan. So now after Ramdhan we start again but this time we have our new place close by our place in Kelapa Gading. I’m telling you this sport is crazy, the owner make the room hot even though they actually have air cons and fan the hotness of the room give you total wetness or some Indonesian people call my hubby as ‘bule mandi’ referring to his overly crazy sweat but when we ask for the 1/2 pk AC I assumed (which is obviously not enough coldness for such a big room) to be turned on, they will turn it on for about 10 minutes and turn it off again because they are afraid that we will get some ‘masuk angin’ or the wind enter your body or some western people known as cold. I told my husband some Indonesian people really think it would likely to happen but from my husband point of view it’s just because the owner simply wants to save the power bill, well which one is true I’m not so sure though. Again, the one in Kelapa Gading compare to the one in Kemang is that the one in Kelapa Gading open from 9 a.m to 9 p.m nonstop and they don’t have schedules (yet) so you can come anytime you want and have them kick your ass for two hours or less whatever amount of hour you wish, so if you live and work in Kelapa Gading, Pulomas, Cempakaputih or even sunter or ancol area you better go here than the one in kemang because considering the amount of traffic, but of course if you live or work downtown or in the southern part of J town you can go to the one in Kemang well I’m not going to argue about those places but what I’m saying this sport really relieve my stress especially relieve my stress of being jobless it’s better than simply strolling the malls spend all your money on something that you don’t really need or eat something you don’t really like. When we came last night there our usual instructor the short, bulky, muscular with real bataknese look guy welcome us with kind of awkward warmth but looking so sincere, his hair is so hip but also so funny on him he looks like some handsome porcupine, enough paying attention to the instructor, so we got change right away and stand behind him where he gave us 5 minutes warm up and ask my husband to do push up but didn’t ask me to do the same because he probably thought I am so far behind athletic. The Kelapa Gading Muay Thai trainers ask for your independency to put on your own hand wrap which something I couldn’t do even though they have taught me soo many times because my purpose went there was not to put on my own wrap right? but I just wanted to kick some ass and get super sweaty just like my hubby did, somehow before the real exercise began he told us to do skipping for 5 minutes but believe me unless you are a shaolin master and or used to heat you will not accomplish this challenge easy, you will stop so many times and 5 minutes feel like 1 hour long. After gone thru all the warm up and the skipping and etc etc we shadowboxed which I hated so much from all the session in the training, I mean come on guys, how can you kick some shadows? it’s like so lame that I couldn’t believe I did it anyway because I just wanted to give the teacher the impression that I am a good student so after about 3 sessions of shadow boxing I told the trainer to give me some pads to kick but he reluctantly gave me any because he thought I’m not good enough for pads but I convinced him that I’d get bored by only doing shadow boxing, at last he gave me some pads and I was so happy because for your information I’m actually a mad woman who is trapped in a very feminine lady body just like so many mad women out there aren’t they?. I got so aggressive punching the pads jab and strike and hook and uppercut and elbow I did it all which literally I hit the instructor so hard that he told me to calm down by saying that I’m not good enough for power punch he told me to save my power punch and concentrate on techniques, but that is bullshit I thought they just didn’t want some fair lady like me kick their lame-ass butt, nonetheless I consider myself too proud so I calmed down and concentrate on techniques somehow that guy was not incorrect at all he is right that focusing on my techniques really made my jab and strike, my hook and uppercut better and better I still have to work on my elbow that I told him I have short hand (my lame-ass excuse) that my elbow couldn’t reach the pads he was holding. Moreover the first time I tried some kicks it made my leg so sore and the surface of my skin got red and warm and itchy too, so I stopped I didn’t want to do it again I didn’t want to hurt my soft and beautiful skin moreover my kicks are so far from graceful I look like a jumping frog in the children song but he insisted that I have to do it, so grumpily I did it and it hurts like crazy but he told me that I have to use the rotational movement of the body I didn’t understand at first but I got it after a while (the brain needs some nutrition bars to really think eh.) so I did it and it feels sooo f****** good to rotate your body and kick as hard as you can. O yeah, the surface of my skin leg still hurts but do you know what part of my body doesn’t hurt at all? it’s my soul I finally found my martial art I finally found kicking some lame-ass butt really satisfying my soul and relieve all the tensions and all the stress I had, I even didn’t really care about recent opinion of my chiropractor to be careful with my spine or whatever and oh yeah for the ladies don’t be scared sweetheart the burn on the surface of your skin is a quick-fix instead as the result you will experience gracefulness, powerful feeling and most of all you will get your hot bod backkkk!!! Hey Amateurs, for inspirations you can check out some of the movies or theme song as listed below: Rocky I to V, especially Rocky Part II theme song and video will really boost up your mood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuULcVaMTf0 GI Jane and perhaps Kill Bill, for the ladies you can see woman can be tough and beautiful as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIEb-VaElFs for GI Jane If you like old scenes you can always watch any of Bruce Lee’s Movies or Chuck Norris Movies, Van Damme or even Jackie Chan or Jet Lee movies. Ong Bak played by Tony Jaa the Muay Thay rise to stardom actor whose body in my opinion is so lean and muscular http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuqV1RWDhXc&feature=related check that out first before you buy the movies Still the same Tony Jaa movie Tom Yum Goong can be one of the references. You can also check other asian movies reviewed by http://www.cityonfire.com/ I like the 1999 Fight Club with Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter where here I think Edward Norton is way more handsome that Pitt. And I like when Pitt says ‘You don’t talk about fight Club’. Cool isn’t it? My husband and I were crazy, so we went to the movie one week ago to check out Never Back Down played by some young actors Sean Faris and Cam Gidandet. We thought it was unoriginal but mildly entertaining, the fights in the movie were ok but the handsome actor Sean Farris’ physique is not as good as the villains’ played by Cam Gidandet and surprisingly he was a good villain in this movie. Well what is the movie about? Just check out the studio21 website. But overall this movie is good enough to heighten your enthusiasm to do some combat exercise. People you can also comment on the above movies or you add the list. Just post your comment. The more the merrier it means my blog soon can earn some popularity.
